The landscape and natural world around me form my source material, which I experience as something vital and energetic. I am drawn to the dualities within the landscape and the visual contrasts they create – chaos and calm, movement and stillness, darkness and light – and I find the places where water meets land particularly captivating. I collect fragments of this information through sketches, photographs and notes, which are re-imagined and re-interpreted within my studio-based practice, where I translate my experience and sensations of place into simplified elements of shape and pattern, creating a dialogue between abstraction and figuration.

My work does not seek to capture a single moment, but instead attempts to convey nature’s impermanence, transience, and continual transformation.

An authentic use of materials and processes is central to my practice and leads the way in how I develop an image. For example, when working with woodcuts, the sculptural nature of how I shape the block lets me reveal the character of the wood; the chisel marks left by my tools, alongside the wood’s natural grain, come together to form a fundamental part of the finished print.
Many of my prints combine multiple printmaking techniques to achieve the desired effect. I work intuitively, building layers of translucent pigment by passing the work through the press multiple times; in doing so, I can create unexpected and interesting interplays of colour and texture.
I have been working through the medium of printmaking for the past nine years, creating work from my home studio south of Aberystwyth. My initial training in fashion design has informed my love of colour and texture and has driven my consideration for the importance of materials in my work.
I am an elected member of the Royal Cambrian Academy since 2024 and a director of Aberystwyth printmakers since 2022, where I work with other artists to broaden printmaking in the region, and am currently furthering my work by studying for an MA in Fine art at Aberystwyth University.
As a Welsh artist specialising in printmaking, I explore nature and the landscape in my work through a contemporary lens using a variety of techniques, including woodcut and linocut and, more recently, etching and lithography.
